Night differential calculator.

The +10% night shift premium for hours worked between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM — from any daily rate, including how it stacks on rest-day, special-day, and regular-holiday multipliers. The bread and butter of every night guard post.

Night differential

The +10% premium for hours worked between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

The window holds at most 8 hours.
The 10% applies on top of the day's premium hourly rate.

This is the premium ONLY — it is added on top of the base pay for those hours (Labor Code Art. 86). Most guard night posts earn it every shift.

How the 10% works

Take the hourly rate for the day (daily rate ÷ 8, times any holiday or rest-day multiplier already in effect), add 10% of that rate for each hour worked between 10 PM and 6 AM, on top of the base pay for those hours. It stacks with overtime too: a night OT hour earns the OT rate plus 10% of the OT rate. For a 24/7 guard force this premium recurs every single night — small per hour, large per payroll, and the first thing to leak in a manual computation.

FAQ

Common questions.

Night shift differential is an additional 10% of the applicable hourly rate for every hour worked between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM (Labor Code Art. 86). Example: a ₱695 daily rate is ₱86.88/hour; each night hour earns an extra ₱8.69, so a full 8-hour night window adds ₱69.50 to the day's pay.

Only hours actually worked between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM — a maximum of 8. A 6 PM–2 AM shift has 4 night hours (10 PM–2 AM); a 10 PM–6 AM guard post has the full 8.

Yes, and on top of the premium rate: the 10% is computed on the hourly rate as already adjusted for the day. On a worked regular holiday (200%), each night hour earns 200% + 20% = 220% of the basic hourly rate. On a rest day (130%), it is 130% + 13% = 143%.

Yes. An overtime hour inside the 10 PM–6 AM window earns the overtime rate plus 10% of that overtime rate — on an ordinary day that is 125% + 12.5% = 137.5% of the basic hourly rate.

Yes. Guards are covered rank-and-file employees, and night posts are where agencies most often underpay by mistake — the differential must appear on the payslip for every 10 PM–6 AM hour on the DTR, and the corresponding cost belongs in the D.O. 174 client bill rate.

Night posts, computed right, every night.

NexusWorkforce reads night hours straight from geofenced DTR clock-ins and applies the differential — stacked correctly with holiday and OT premiums — on every payslip, then carries the same cost into your client bill rates.
